  • Sunday, 10 December. 7:30pm - 9:00pm. Irish Writers for Palestine Galway event, Nuns Island Theatre, Galway. Irish Writers For Palestine is part of the all-island Irish Artists for Palestine programme of solidarity events platforming Palestinian writers alongside Irish writers. Tickets from eventbrite.ie 

  • Thursday, 7 December. 7:00pm. Saint Nicholas Collegiate Church, Galway. 'Reflections: A Commemoration of the Irish Women of 1923'. An evening of poetry, song and art - the culminating event of the Decade of Centenaries. Featuring Comhra na mBan Westside Centenary Writers Group led by Emily Cullen, the Galway Womens' Centenary Choir led by Tracy Bruen and the Dun Emir Eastside Collective led by Aine Phillips.

SEPTEMBER 2023

  • Friday, 29 September. 6:00pm - 7:00pm. 'What Heaney Means to Me'. Poets gather in tribute to Seamus Heaney. Charlie Byrnes Bookshop, Galway. Free admission. 

  • Friday, 22 September. 6:00pm - 7:00pm. Culture Night at Galway City Museum: 'Poems inspired by the Decade of Centenaries'. Featuring readings by Edel Burke, Emily Cullen, Attracta Fahy, Gerry Hanberry, Mike MacDomhnaill & more. Free admission.

AUGUST 2023

  • Thursday, 24 August. 8:00pm - 10:00pm. Leitrim Writers Night at the Drumshanbo Written Word Festival, including 'The Ladies of Leitrim Poetry' with readings by Roisin Kelly, Emily Cullen & Mary Guckian in conversation with Ronan McGreevy at The Mayflower Ballroom, Drumshanbo, Co. MAY 2023

  • Thursday, 25 May: 6:00pm. Emily will read at the launch of issue 17 of Skylight 47 at Galway City Library. Poet, Breda Spaight, will launch this new issue and read from her own newly published collection, Watching for the Hawk (Arlen House). 

  • Friday, 5 May: 11:00am. Creative Writers in the Community Schools Event Reading at the Irish World Academy, University of Limerick

 

APRIL 2023

  • Thursday, 27 April: 1:00pm-2:15pm. For Poetry Day Ireland, Emily will host a special reading by the MA in Creative Writing students, members of the UL Creative Writing team - Donal Ryan and Eoin Devereux - and guest poet, Anton Floyd at the Bourn Vincent Gallery at the University of Limerick (above the University Concert Hall, Foundation Building). This is a free event but all donations on the day will go to the United Nations Refugee agency Ireland (UNHCR-Ireland). All welcome.

 

 

MARCH 2023

  • Saturday, 11 March: 2:30pm. Launch by our Irish First Lady, Sabina Higgins of 1921: A Dialogue between Poetry and Music, Ballinasloe Library. Emily will read her poem, 'Bridget's Hope' commissioned by Galway Public Libraries and featuring original music composed by Ciaran Cannon. All welcome. 

 

FEBRUARY 2023

  • Friday, 24 February: 11:00am. Limerick Literary Festival opening event, poetry reading at Dooradoyle Library, Dooradoyle, Limerick V94 AP03. Free event. All welcome.

  • Thursday, 8 December: 7:00pm. Remembering Liam Mellows: An Evening of Poetry, Music & Commentary, Athenry Library, Athenry, Co. Galway. All welcome.

OCTOBER 2022

  • Saturday, 22 October: 11am - 1:15pm. The Source Arts Centre, Thurles & 3pm - 6:30pm at The Book Worm book shop, Thurles. Circling the Square Thurles Poetry Festival, honouring Dennis O'Driscoll. Free admission. All welcome.

  • Saturday, 1 October: 4:00pm. Dromineer Literary Festival. A poetry reading and music recital with Emily Cullen & Eileen Minogue O'Brien. This event includes a commemoration of the 230th anniversary of the famous Belfast Harp Festival of 1792 and features the world premiere of a newly commissioned, 'Sionnan: a suite' of music and poetry by Emily & Eileen for the Festival. www.dnlf.ie 

 

SEPTEMBER 2022

  • Saturday, 10 September: 2:00pm. 'Golden Lines' Poetry Festival, Táin Arts Centre, Crowe St., Dundalk, Co. Louth. Poetry readings along side Michael Farry, the 'Thursday Poets' and various local poets. Music by Sophie Coyle. Free admission. 

AUGUST 2022

 

  • Monday, 8 August: 8:00pm. Kilkenny Arts Festival 2022. Saíocht: a celebration of Ireland’s leading poets and Irish traditional musicians, St. John’s Priory, Kilkenny. Admission: €20Hosted by renowned actor Stephen Rea, and featuring leading poets Emily Cullen & Gabriel Rosenstock, together with acclaimed Irish traditional musicians Louise Mulcahy, Michelle Mulcahy and Neil Martin, Saíocht explores the fascinating artistic relationship between the Irish literary tradition and Irish traditional music. Full proceeds from tickets will go to Kilkenny Civil Defence Ukraine Appeal

JULY 2022

 

  • Tuesday, 26 July: 2:00pm. IASIL 2022 Conference, University of Limerick. Reading with author, Rosaleen McDonagh, Kemmy Business School lecture theatre, ground floor. Chair: Prof. Michael Griffin, UL. 

  • Sunday, 24 July: 3:00pm. Edward Bunting Remembered, Mount Jerome Cemetery, Dublin. Free admission. Join us at Edward Bunting’s newly restored grave in Mount Jerome, where Catherine Martin, Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media will lay a wreath to commemorate Bunting’s contribution to Irish music. This will be preceded by David Byers, who will speak on the Bunting legacy. Poet Emily Cullen will share some of her poetry inspired by the Belfast Harp Festival, and two of our leading harpers, Paul Dooley and Áine Ní Dhubhghaill will perform on early Irish harp and Irish harp respectively.

  • Saturday, 16 July: 8:00pm. 230 Years a-Harping Commemorative Concert, First Presbyterian Church, Rosemary Street. Adm £20/£10 - Harpers from all over Ireland gather to recreate the Belfast Harpers’ Assembly held around this time 230 years ago. Part of the Harps Alive Festival 2022.
